Fast French Onion Soup

  • 2 large - onions, cut in half & sliced to desired thickness
  • 1 small - clove garlic, crushed
  • 2-3 cubes - Low sodium beef bouillion cubes
  • 1 Tbsp. - Light Butter (I use Land of Lake)
  • 1/4 Tsp. - Gravy Master, for coloring (optional)
  • 4 cups - Water
  • 1/4 Tsp. - Pepper or white pepper, to your taste (optional)
  • 1/4 Tsp. - Sweet basil (optional)

Put butter in pan and saute onions until they are almost clear in color.  Add all other ingredients and cook approximately 20 minutes. 

Fast & easy.  If your family likes meat, can add some leftover beef to this.  Can also put in your favorite soup crocks & put croutons, bread, or grilled cheese on top.


This recipe is good for diabetics or for someone on a low carb diet. It is also good for someone on a diet.

The only thing bad about it is the butter.
