I read this book because I visited Iceland last summer and I like to read stories that take place in the countries I have been to. This is an interesting story about a time and place that is very different and not often written about in children's literature. The story follows Ran, a Viking girl, from childhood to her teenage years in Norway and Iceland. This book also appealed to me because Henrietta Branford is one of J.K. Rowling's favorite authors!
