LAPD Officer Stevie Taylor returns to her hometown when her father dies from a sudden heart attack. Her father was the local Police Chief. Stevie decides to quit her job and join the local force. This way she will be close to her family and able to help the local police who are now short-handed. With only a few days on the job, a teenager dies from a drug overdose. There is a new drug on the streets, one that is very lethal. Stevie and new Police Chief Zane Duncan must work together to discover who is dealing the new drug.
I'm not a big fan of novellas. This one felt like I had listened to the first six chapters of a full-sized book. The characters were well-drawn and likeable. The story was very interesting with a lot of action. And then it just ended. I'm certainly going to continue with this series because I know the overall story arc will continue. I just wish we would have a lot more of Stevie and Zane in the next book. My rating: 4 Stars.
