Latest job for Londoner freelance detective Hannah Wolfe is to chaperone a rebellious 14-year-old teenager, Mattie Shepherd around London for a day on a birthday shopping spree. Mattie was supposed to spend the day with her scientist father, but hes got a job to finish, and Mattie feels deserted by her father. They are to use Dads car. Shockingly, a bomb has been planted in the car and it blows up, killing Mattie. Finding Matties killer turns into a complicated puzzle. Hannah Wolfe is a modern woman, witty, liberal, and intelligent tough and feminine. Turns out that scientist Dad, Tom Shepherd, has been receiving death threats because his firm uses animals for research. Pace is smooth and action moves reader along. A good series for mystery lovers. (by maggieblue)

A wonderful mystery, well-written, funny, and poignant that keeps you turning the pages.

Private investigator Hannah Wolfe, who's independent though not invincible, idealistic but definately not naive, has taken on one of the less glamorous jobs in the security world -- chaperoning teenage rebel Mattie Shepard around London. Then comes an obsession wrecking her private life and dragging her into a vortex of lies and betrayal.

Good mystery, although I'm not fond of this particular plot theme.

Good female PI story- still like her historical dramas better though. Will read more in this series though.
