Helpful Score: 1
A compelling historical novel about the the life and family of Horatio Gates Spafford who wrote the lyrics of the well-loved hymn: It is well with my soul. Very well written, interesting, really drew me into their lives. It starts with a terrifying account of running from the great Chicago fire. I enjoyed the great character sketches about the famous preacher D.L. Moody. The book makes we want to read the rest of her "Music of the Heart" series on great Christian hymns.
A novel developed from the story behind the hymn, It Is Well With My Soul.
This is one of the saddest books I have ever read. If you like true stories, though, you might enjoy it.
This book was gripping from the beginning. The historical/fact aspect was well written and the fiction was tastefully added. I would recommend this book to those over the age of 13. A lovely read. I laughed and cried.
