The form said "First Class" since it's under weight (and too thin anyway) for Media Mail, but when I go to print it (and have already paid for it) it's coming up as Media Mail anyway... What do I do?! I never had this happen before.. grrr.. always on a Friday afternoon, I swear. Thanks!! |

The same thing happened to me last week (October 13th). I sent feedback to PBS, and here was the response: "There is a bug on the screen that is displayed before the wrapper prints. It is showing the higher First Class rate of $2.15 + .18 = $2.33. The amount printed on your wrapper, and the amount charged in your account is $2.13 + .18 = $2.31. You can send your books using the wrappers you printed without paying anything more. You can verify that you were charged $2.31 for each book by looking at your Money Registry page. Thank you for letting us know about this problem. We will look into getting the bug fixed." Their answer was unsatisfying because I needed to send the books FCM, but that was all they had to say about it. Apparently, since I was not overcharged for what I received, they didn't feel it was a big problem. I disagreed - I was expecting FCM and got MM instead (which was NOT what I had agreed to pay for). That was a week ago, and I have since used Printable Postage to send smaller books FCM with no problem. I thought they had fixed it... Sorry to hear that others are still having trouble. My advice is for everyone to send in feedback each time it happens so that PBS can have an accurate picture of the extent of the problem. |

Unfortunately, I CAN'T send the book using the wrapper that printed though, because it's too thin for media mail, and must be sent first class. It showed me the first class rate in the screen, but printed media mail instead. So now I have wasted postage... |

Mine did that too. I wish there was a way to select first class or media mail, that way the postage printed right and the monies paid was what you wanted.

Nicole, there is no such thing as "too thin for media mail". The size is not an issue for media mail, just the content. |

If you have a 2-cent stamp around, put it on the preprinted label. Cut off the part that says "Media mail." Mark it "First Class" and mail it. You should not have to waste the postage. |

I don't think you can convert Preprinted Media Mail postage to First Class that easily (it's not like a standard PBS mailing label). When you print it out MM, there is that big black box, and FC has "FCM" printed in that spot. I don't think simply adding stamps will do the trick. PBS needs to credit your account and then fix the problem so that you can mail your package the way you intended to. You have been inconvenienced, and now the receiving member is being inconvenienced as well. That is unacceptable. If there are bugs in the Printable Postage system (as was admitted to me), then perhaps they should take it offline until it has been debugged and is working properly. |

I had an issue where a wrapper I was prining printed as First Class and I didn't even realize it until I got to the post office. the clerk was good enough to put a line through it and send it Media Mail. However, I don't pre-pay through PBS. |

I don't get the "too thin for media mail" thing either. If it's a pamphlet or magazine it can't go media mail because of advertising. Maybe that's what they mean. |

I worked it out. I was just having one of those days where everything was making me insane, and apparently I was spazzing over nothing. Thanks all. :-) |
