Very much worth reading. A slyly droll and mischievously witty family story of growing up and living in a quietly pompous but insistently well-bred though rather shopworn tribe with a few distinguished ancestors. An amusing riff on the lengths to which people will go for self-regard, but in the entirely traditional kind and gentle American manner. Goes well with a glass of milk and a slice of apple pie.
