Is there any way to tell what your bookshelf's status is as far as the first in - first out feature...??

example:  12 books listed, mine is 10th in line..

The only thing I've figure out how to come close to tracking them is to add the to my reminder list where it lists: Copies Available.. That's also the only way I've figured out how to tell how many of a title is listed

I did a couple of searches and came up blank... Thanks in advance for any ideas..

Dave

No, you can't tell where your book is in the FIFO order except right after you post it.

Even if you knew, that wouldn't be very useful information. You would also need to know how many times per day that title gets requested.

It could also be ordered directly from a shelf w/o going through the FIFO system.  So someone who posted it after you could get an order for it first because it was ordered directly from their shelf.  Or you could get an order before others who posted it before you. But I agree, it would be nice to see where you were in line.

I have to disagree. As a new member without knowing the way books move around here if I had posted a book and was able to see that there were 30 copies available and mine was # 30 I would probably have just not posted. Now that I know that books move on their own time depending on the popularity and that Im suprised all the time about books I never thought would get ordered its not a big deal but I think it would discourage some new members and they wouldnt try the site out to its fullest.

Good point Chris.. My 1st books posted were some really nice John Grisham paperbacks. Had I known some of them had aound 600-800 listed I might have been discouraged and not even joined.

But after joining and posting in the Book Bazazar two of them are on their way to a new home.

David, posting in the forums is a great way to move books. Many people want to order from active members, so you'll probably get a number of orders just by being active. Plus, we're all suckers for those "I'm new, check out my shelf so I can order some more books!" posts!

Wow, a few of you have been here since 2005. I can't imagine your collections.
