Heartwarming story of Murray, who is 100 and feels like he's ready to die, until he meets Jason, a ten year old with a bad heart and not expected to live much longer. Jason has a list of things he wants to accomplish before he dies, and as impossible as the wishes are, Murray takes Jason under his wing as a Big Brother, to help him with his wishes. The characters are all so wonderful and well written. Jason's neighbor Tiegan, who sticks to his side throughout everything he goes through was a favorite. Murray feels he was a failure when raising his own boys, because he was away most of the time with his career in the Major Leagues. He is a comical character, driving a very old car, with no valid license at 15 miles an hour. But he is determined to make Jason's life worth living.
This is the story of an elderly man who wants to die and a 10-year-old boy who is dying, but wants to live. It is a wonderful book and I found it to be very uplifting. I read it in one day and had to have plenty of tissues nearby. I will be reading more of this author.
