This feels a lot like transplanted Carl Hiaasen, as various not-very-bright bad guys lollop around a particular landscape (Texas this time, rather than Florida), commiting various kinds of mayhem, sometimes for little or no reason, while simultaneously trying to catch a mythical beastie. Entertaining read.
