It presents a strange new world, carefully and credibly constructed, and a cast of characters you come to care about though none are conventional "heroes." It' s a long book but I was sorry to see it end. I'm a voracious reader who occasionally ventures into sci fi; I'm glad I did so for this book, and will look forward to the rest of the trilogy.
