A very readable autobiography of a Dutch Jew from The Netherlands who was a teenager during the war. She was actually able to secret a valise of keepsakes and recover it after the war, and thus does not have to rely only on her memory. The descriptions of the air raids are not found everywhere, but there is no index (so I removed one star in my rating). They survived the loss of the SS Simon Bolivar but I do not understand why they returned to The Netherlands.
It ends with the lyrics of a song sung by kids in the death camps and documentation of her family's deaths.
