tani reviewed Forecast: The Consequences of Climate Change, from the Amazon to the Arctic, from Darfur to Napa Valley on
I found this book very interesting, as the author traveled here and there around the world to see how global warming has affected people's lives and what may be expected in the future. A lot of research seems to have gone into the writing.
It was a bit disconcerting that over and over the author saw fit to describe in detail what his informants and guides are wearing:
"Rosato wore a turquoise silk shirt with cloth buttons and matching brown pants with turquoise flowers...A silvered angel hung from her pearl necklace." These incongruous passages in a semi-scientific book bothered me at first, but after a while, I got used to it. I learned a lot, and the book was a pleasant read.
