I found foretold included a short story by a favorite author, which is why I had to read it.

"Gentlemen Send Phantoms" - Laini Taylor
I loved this story! For all the girls out there that aren't popular and whose future is not obvious here is a story to warm your heart.

"Burned Bright" - Diana Peterfreund
What do you think about prophets? What do you think about the end of days? What happens to a cult when the end does not come as foretold?

"The Angriest Man" - Lisa McMann
My least favorite story, begs the question of becoming what you have been told you will become. A self-fulfilling prophesy.

"Out of the Blue" - Meg Cabot
Do you believe in aliens? What would you do if you met one? What if you were told to keep it a secret? Would you? Find out what KC and Kyle do...

"One True Love" - Malinda Lo
A prophesy at the birth of a princess tells of the demise of the king. He stows her away in a tower so she can not fall in love. But the king needs heirs to his kingdom and he has no sons. His greed is his undoing and his daughter is more surprised at her role in his life. Will the princess find and keep her one true love?

"This Is A Mortal Wound" - Michael Grant
A futurist world that finds the easy way to educate through the use of technology. Ms. Gill is completely unhinged when she kidnaps Tomaso to learn about history. An interesting idea about foreboding in the prophesy.

"Misery" - Heather Brewer
Alek finds himself in a black and white world in the town of Misery. Here we discover that prophecy can be a gift. But is it really?

"The Mind Is A Powerful Thing" - Matt De La Pena
Joanna is a crime nut, but her obsession keeps her awake at night. Ronny tries to be there for her. Its her 16th birthday and she receives a fortune in her fortune cookie: "The hour has finally arrived." She is distracted by her friends and drinking. She flips her reality into a tv drama and hurts the one person that makes her feel safe.

"The Chosen One" - Saundra Mitchell
An unexpected surprise story. A prophecy is told in a kingdom far far away. Then one day a sheltered princess is determined to save her sister and quest for the Fabled Cup. Does she save her sisters life? Does she find the cup? Does she complete her quest?

"Improbable Futures" - Kami Garcia
Ilana dreams of being anything but a carny fortune teller, so she tells miserable fortunes of reality and despair. She has been caged and wants her freedom. One night she discovers that her fortunes become real. So she gives Big John one hoping that her freedom is on the horizon... what will happen?

"Death for the Deathless" - Maragaret Stohl
What if you were immortal, would prophecies mean anything to you? Would you create prophecies to control the minds of humans? What is the purpose to a prophecy, but to be fulfilled?

"Fate" - Simon Elkeles
Carson finally finds a home after running away from his past. 18 year old Carson is quiet and keeps to himself. Then he meets his neighbor 16 year old Willow who is almost his complete opposite. She fills in the silences. He thought he was looking for peace and quiet, but he discovers he loves the girl next door?

"The Killing Garden" - Carrie Ryan
This story surprised me. The Gardener has a daughter and he says she will be too weak to become the Gardener. So Tanci strives to become her father. Until the day she challenges her father and becomes the Gardener. But the Gardener is the tool of the king and that job is to weed the kingdom or wild growing people as well as weeds. Her job is to shape the kings garden as he see fit, a tool. She has never been defeated.
One day she has an accident and breaks her foot. On one of her visits to the dungeons she meets an unlikely prisoner. Will she be able to continue being the gardener? Will she stay undefeated? Will she continue living this life?

"Homecoming" - Richelle Mead
The last story is why I decided to read foretold. Visiting favorite characters being themselves. Dimitri and Rose go to Siberia to visit with his family. There is trouble in the surrounding villages with a Strigoi called The Blood King who is very old and hard to kill. Yeva sees and gives a prophecy. The people in the village interpret and before you know it Mark, Dimitri and Rose are trying to kill the most dangerous vampire.
Will they kill the vampire? Will they all return home safely? Will Yeva's prophecy come to pass? She's never been wrong before, will she continue to be right?
