A very nice novel I just stumbled upon. The author fills in the blanks with the original three wise men, who are seen on their way toward and then on their way back from Jesus. Their stories are varied and interesting, but the star of the novel is the fourth wise man, who is always too late to see Jesus, neither the baby in swaddling clothes nor the adult about to be sacrificed. Yet the fourth wise man is the most truly affected by His coming. In my opinion, he can be seen as one of us modern Christians. We are too late on this earth to see or hear Jesus in the flesh, yet His call can change our lives.
