Bishop Spong is a controversial figure; but I think it is tough to argue with his thorough analysis of the Book of John. Even if you don't agree with everything he believes, he will provide new insight to this often confusing gospel. I was particularly impressed with his explanations of the stories of the Samaritan woman at the well and the raising of Lazarus. Check it out.
