3 of 7 volumes that he wrote between 1865 and 1874. Apparently, his view of history is the subject of controversy (he was closer to the "civilization vs. savagery" and "manifest destiny" view than the "noble savage" view, but his literary style is admired by critics. No pictures in this volume.
