G.B.Singh is the author of Gandhi Behind the Mask of Divinity, a biography of Mahatma Gandhi and Gandhi Under Cross Examination. He is also well known for his struggle to up keep his religious symbols (turban and unshorn beard) while being a part of US Army, where he served his term as a colonel in the Dental Corps, where he was a Periodontist, up to his retirement in 2007. It was mainly due to his lobbying that today a few Sikhs are a part of US Defence System. During his twenty eight years long service he has been to many parts of US and have visited Korea twice.

While being a student of political science at the University of Oklahoma one incident relating to a curriculum dealing with communism opened his ideas of Hinduism to scrutiny, which in turn lead to his formal journey in studying Hinduism. Later in 1983, while watching Gandhi which reinforced the story of Gandhi he had learned in India and reading an article,The Gandhi Nobody Knows by Richard Grenier brought about fundamental changes in him and lead to his life-long task of re-discovery of the man and myth called Gandhi.
