I am on the 3rd book 'voyager'.  I just loved the first 'outlander' but have difficulty getting thru' these next ones.  I think it's because I really love claire and jamie together and am having a hard time knowing that they had other lives with other people (esp jamie)while they weren't together.  I know in my 'rational mind' that they HAD to have other experiences but in my 'perfect love story mind'  I get mad at them for not being completely miserable (and perfect) all the time they were apart. does that make sense LOL?  I'll read a bit then put it down.  I'm almost afraid to continue on to the other ones (I have them all lined up to read)  because I jsut know that there are going to be further 'not together issues' coming up.   anyone else have that problem with characters you like and how do you get beyond that LOL?

I am on the 4th one of the series now, so I can tell you that it gets better.  This is the story of a long-term relationship, and yes, there was some separation, but these two were meant to be together, so just keep that in mind- everything is working toward that end.  Life is messy, and I think that is reflected in this series- it's not perfect for them, but they manage to find happiness anyway.  I don't think that that it makes it any less of an appealing series, but to each their own.  I'm about 1/4 into the 4th book and I'm still enchanted by this series.  Don't give up on Voyager now- it gets really exciting toward the end!  And besides being a fantastic love story, it is also a fantastic adventure story

yea, I know that I'll continue reading the series but maybe it's good to put them down for while every once in a while.  I do enjoy all the characters. even the not so nice ones are interesting.  I usuallly don't have a problem with not so perfect characters but for some reason these are different.  I read there will be another book in a couple years and maybe I'll be thru' them all by then  LOL.

Having read all 6 books I can only URGE you to continue.  It really gets better and better.  Yes, there are parts that are a bit slow, but in real life, whose isn't?  This is an epic love story and you have to take that into consideration.  Voyager is fantastic.  Drums of Autumn is an incredible story. Fiery Cross and A Breath of Snow and Ashes are great.  They all bring things to the table and EACH one has those wonderful, tender "Jamie" moments we long for!
