I was given a copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley, in return for an honest review.

"Gabriel Finley and the Raven's Riddle" is a middle grade book about a family and their close relationship with ravens. The brilliance of ravens was really played up in this story, by the ravens being able to speak in conversations with humans and by always telling riddles. This was the part of the book that intrigued me. I love riddles. And even though these were targeted towards middle grade kids, some actually kept me on my toes. But that was the end of my intrigue.

For some reason I was only interested in the riddles. I looked forward to the next one. I wasn't interested in the story that was happening in the foreground. I don't know that anything was missing from the adventure that the kids went on. It just didn't hold my attention. And when their adventure came to its conclusion it didn't feel like the end, I would expect there to be a second book to tie up some loose ends. But I do applaud the author, for wrapping up this story as its own book.
