This is an excellent book to learn basic American Sign Language vocabulary. It is in a dictionary format.

Handy book if you know someone who uses sign language. Has the signs you'd need for everyday use.

This is a regular paperback size book. The book is an ASL dictionary with signs listed from A-Z. The signs are illustrated in line drawings with a written description. For the most part the signs are described clearly and accurately. The book includes no "hints" for helping to remember the sign which I think would make many of the signs clearer to understand. This book also does not include signed English markers, nor does it explain ASL syntax or grammar. Overall this is a good book for expanded your knowledge of ASL signs but not signed English, as signed English uses many initialized signs. This book is not a good stand alone book for ASL as it covers no grammar or other aspects of ASL, such as facial expressions.
