This is the last book in the Mackenzie series, it is as wonderful as the other Mackenzie stories. Back cover reads: On the trail of a vicious criminal, agent Chance Mackenzie had just found ther perfect bait for his trap. The soltary agent discovered that the elusive evildoer had a daughter no one knew about. And so Chance made himself the only man vibrant courier Sunny Miller could trust--and then arranged for her long-missing father to find out about them. What Chance hadn't foreseen was that Sunny had reasons of her own to be hiding from her father--and now Chance's decpetion had brought them both one step closer to the end of everything they held dear...

I love Linda Howard, she is hands down my favorite author. The Game of Chance has all the trappings of what I consider to be a great romance novel. There is mystery, deceit, very hot sex and a happy ending. Chance is one of my favorite characters in this genre because he is of course absolutely gorgeous, strong, smart and sexy as hell. But he is also vulnerable and that made him more believable. I felt like crying when Sunny realized she had been deceived by Chance. If it were not for the love and support of his very big family, this story might have had a very different ending.

If you like a lot of action, a lot of hot sex, and a lot of emotions; give A Game of Chance a chance!

I loved all of the Mackenzies Mountain books, but I enjoyed this one the most. I love it when a book can make me cry happy tears.

On the trail of a vicious criminal, agent Chance Mackenzie had just found the perfect bail for his trap...According to Ms. Howard, this will be the last of the Makenzie books. Happened to be the first I read, and although I thought the plot seemed cheesy, (handsome loner who named himself Chance-blah blah blah) I was soon caught up in the story and couldn't put it down! Will now read the earlier ones, for sure.

Chance Mackenzie is on the trail of a vicious killer and the perfect bait is the man's daughter. He doesn't realize Sunny is hiding from her father also.

While I think this is one of those books every romance reader should at least attempt, I have to admit I had a hard time liking this one... Well Wait, I liked it initially (In particular, I liked the heroine), but the end bothered me to no end. The hero is basically a jerk, and does jerk things, and the heroine of course forgives him with barely a an apology, soley because he said he loved her.. And of course that makes everything all right.

The worst aspect, at least for me, is that it seemed like LH was saying that Even though the Hero was an asshole, it's okay, because he had a shitty childhood, and that of course makes anything he does okay....Grrrr

So... even though I'm not happy with the book, I'll say it's one you have to read as you can't not Respond to it. Also, if you can, try to avoid spoilers!

Undercover agent Chance Mackenzie knew that the best way to capture an elusive terrorist was to use the man's daughter as bait, so he cleverly seduced Sunny Miller and set out to discover her father's whereabouts. Sunny's own innocence was questionable, and gaining her trust was nearly impossible. And even with all his experience and training, Chance found it difficult to overlook her beauty.

However, Chance soon realized that Sunny wasn't running from himâ"she was running for her life, and she needed Chance's protection. But keeping Sunny safe would involve telling her the truthâ"about his mission and what she'd done to his heart.
