Scholastic Book. The title is slightly misleading in that very few of the activities in the book actually require being out in the garden. The majority of the book is devoted to listing fruits, vegetables and herbs, telling a little history, explains usage for food, gives cultivation and planting tips. The neatest part of the book is the section on plant cultivation experiments. It shows how to start avocados, onions, potatoes etc... and suggests results to test for in planting experiments, encouraging observation of plant growth leading to an in depth understanding of plant propagation. Great for a child of a gardener who is curious and eager for creative, varied learning experiences.
