Isaiah Washington's contract with "Grey's Anatomy" was not renewed.  Guess they finally realized the severity of his remarks.

Yeah, his character suddenly seemed tainted by the evil of the actor. Didn't he have to got to rehab recently?

You aren't alone Chris.

I heard about the slur, but I don't watch the show.

I'm amazed it took as long as it did.  How many remarks did he have to make before something like this happend?  I mean geez he went to rehab and then a few days later was still making stupid comments and at an awards show no less.  Amazing.

Maybe Isaiah Washington would like a little cheese with his whine...

The recently fired Washington, who just completed his third season on the hit ABC show, talked to the Houston Chronicle for a story published Thursday.

"They fired the wrong guy," he told the paper.  "I have to clear my name."

He told the paper the altercation with fellow surgeon Patrick "McDreamy" Dempsey that started his downward spiral in the fall was blown way out of proportion  Tabloids blitzed the incident at the time as an indication of Washington's homophobia in that he used a pointed slur to refer to another co-star, T.R. Knight, who has since come out.

"I used the word during a disagreement with Patrick.  I apologized for that.  We shook hands and went back to work," he told the Chron.

But that was the beginning of the end for Washington, whose use of that word came back to haunt him, over and over again--usually at the most inopportune times, such as the Golden Globe awards in January.  Despite his attempts to redeem himself, he couldn't get back into the good graces of Seattle Grace fans.

He claimed to have asked to be released from his contract after his fall, but not receiving a renewal a few weeks ago was a blow.

"That was a shock," he said.  "I did everything they told me to do, including not saying anything, an then they didn't renew my contract.  That's not fair."

~as reported in today's Seattle Post-Intelligencer

I do not watch much television, and therefore I did not follow this series...

Accordingly, I do not know if it is his stupidity of being a publc figure that used a homophobic slur, him not being able to work well with others, or if his acting ability was the cause of his contract not being renewed...

Why I am replying, is that I actually briefly read a story on the web (a couple of days ago) that mentioned a few fans of Washington's has started a petition in support of getting him back on the show...

He used the word during an altercation with another actor, then repeated it live at the Golden Globes.

I have read that he has had "anger" issues when working on other projects as well.

It was these two factors more so than his acting ability that did him in.

He used the word during an altercation with another actor, but ABOUT a 3rd actor (Knight).  It's not like he was calling Dempsey the word.  He was calling Knight the word when Knight was late to the set.  Amazing that he's changed the spin on his actions.....grrrrrr.....

Adios to him!

Ha, now he says he was fired for racist reasons.  Yeah, right.  What a moron....does he not realize what a hypocritical bigot jerk he sounds like?  Not to mention a big fat LIAR?  Good riddance.

This is one of those times for Mr. Washington to learn to keep his mouth closed.  I've been reading bits & pieces about this & everytime he speaks, something dumb comes out. Yeesh.  I think he's one of those people who definitely will have to learn the hard way, over & over & over again. doofus.

He's supposed to be on Larry King Live tomorrow (July 2). It appears the interview has already been taped (I can't imagine he'd want to take calls from viewers) - they showed a clip during Friday's show.
