The book covers the last days of Simon Bolivar. Gabriel Garcia Marquez brings it to life by attempting to distill the thoughts of the General about his life , value and purpose. Going into his despair at the failures of his efforts. It can be described more as a spiritual and mental reliquary than as a biographical work.
