Ann Hood's writing is like having a conversation with an old friend; it's warm and comforting, interesting, and smooth. From the book: "At the heart of my family lay an unwavering faith in the power of things larger than ourselves." Ann's search to reconnect with God and her faith, for a miracle to save the life of her beloved father, for the comfort she needed, is described with ease. I enjoyed her descriptions of her travels to far-off places in search of these miracles and cures. Even though I'm not Italian, I could picture her grandmother and great-grandmother performing their rituals brought over from the Old Country. A well-writen memoir!
