"Getting Lucky With Luciano" is the first novel I've read by Mrs. Kelley Nyrae and I found it to be a pleasant read, although a little slow at times. I thought Kaylee's frequent nervous stammering and klutziness when around Luciano made for some amusing moments. I was also instantly caught up in the fact that for the past six months Kaylee Daniels and Luciano Valenti harbored a secret desire for one another that was becoming much too strong for them to ignore. I was even more intrigued when Kaylee decides she wants to SPICE up her life by seducing Luciano. However, I was disappointed when every time Luciano wanted to add some FIRE to Kaylee's mundane existence she found some reason to put him off or make him wait. I guess with the mutual promise of a "no-strings-attached affair" I was expecting more RED-HOT passionate encounters, however the few intimate encounters they shared were sweet and sensual, they DIDN'T begin to even scorch the pages. With Kaylee constantly pushing Luciano away, I didn't see how they could possibly have ANY type of relationship, with or without strings. And I enjoyed the author's brief hints of an attraction between Nico and Tabby and found myself wondering what would happen with this couple, more than the goings on with the main characters. That being said it was still a sweet, short, and quite the predictable romance. And NOT nearly the erotically charged "Gettin' Lucky" tale I was hoping to read.
