I enjoyed this book well enough and thought the ending was especially nice. A simple quiet read.
Eve moves to Greenwich Village from the midwest to conquer 1990's New York but also to find something of her mother who died when Eve was 9. Her mother had lived in Greenwich Village in the 60s and was friendly with the artists and writers of the Beat generation. Eve struggles with everything from finding and keeping a job to finding friends to living with a ghost in her apartment. While she faces several challenges, she does eventually find a group of friends including an aging fashion designer and some television writers. Her ghost, Don, just speaks to her in her head while in the apartment but he was also a writer and part of the 50s and 60s New York scene. The different pieces of the past: Eve's mom, Don and the fashion designer, all come together with pieces that connect. And Eve finds herself along the way. The story was good and the information about the Beat generation and tv writers was also interesting. In addition to the real ghost Don, many of the characters have "ghosts" from their past in the form of guilt and remorse for past decisions they made. Overall a good book which I enjoyed.
