I must have been living under a rock, because I didn't notice they added this feature now. Yay!! Before you'd have to buy a B&N gift card to "gift" someone ebooks for their Nook. Now you can just click the "Buy as Gift" button on the ebook and send it via their email address. Yes!!

This is a new feature. I am so happy about it. I don't know if you play games but I would love a monthly WL swap with ebooks just like the monthly WL swap for paper books. |

As I understood this, it's not gifting the ebooks you've purchased and read. It's purchasing an e-book for someone else's library. (Buying new for a friend.) Am I mistaken? |

That is how I understand it Jane. You are purchasing a brand new book to give to someone. |

If you're purchasing a brand new book when you 'gift' one to someone, then wouldn't that add up to big money, buying books for other people? Why not just buy your own WL books at that point?

Yes, it's buying a new book and gifting it to someone. I've been waiting for this feature forever because I have some family members that love their Nooks and I can never gift them a book I think they'd like. Now I can! :) I don't know how the games work, but I thought you had to have the book already and then you send it out to whoever ends up with it on their list. Not sure how that would work in ebooks since only some are lendable. But maybe it could be with LendMe books? Hmm, I dunno! |

There's been several variations of ebook games, including one by moi! This new ability to send ebooks will make us Nook users have an even field in joining the swaps that only worked for Kindle users before. Mary S. (kilchurn) started doing a monthly ebook buddy swap last year called Digital Daze, but it died out after several months. I'd join if she started it up again!
