This one is a mixed bag. The subject is compelling in the morbid way that tragedies keep you riveted, but the constant shifts of perspectives and timeline jumps were confusing. Trauma like this ensures that messed up kids become messed up adults even while we hope for a happy ending or at the very least the best possible outcome. Some elements are predictable while others have twists, and an unexpected reveal feels stale. There are strong and disturbing hints that one is sure to repeat history, which leaves me with chills every time I think of it. Stick around til the end to find out the full details of the events leading right before and directly after rescue day. Disappointingly, the ending is too obscure and open ended for my taste. Girl A is the type of story that leaves more questions than answers, and ultimately, it just left a weird taste in my mouth. 3.5 stars.
