Tim immediately sets antiques dealer Peter Blackwell to work on the search. Tim figures it shouldn't be too difficult to find a Godwin sideboard if the money's right.
When Peter telephones Tim to come to his shop, Tim assumes the quest is ended. But he's wrong. The search -- for a murderer -- has just begun. Tim finds Peter slumped sideways at his desk, shot near the heart. There is some evidence of robbery, but only one clue that Tim feels might help -- a bill from Belgy Klooster's antique furniture store in the town of Hastings.
