This was just a story about what a wife does while her husband does time. I didn't find it great or inspiring or anything - maybe blah.

Empathetic story of a wife who stays loyal to her husband through a long imprisonment. I frequently wondered why this woman made a decision to lead her life as she did, but the book rings true and honest. Well done.

When her husband is convicted of the murder of an elderly, blind woman during a home invasion, Patty is left on her own to raise their son while Tommy serves out his 25-year sentence. Stewart O'Nan is a master at allowing his readers to see the characters' lives fom both the wide perspective and the narrower day-to-day existence. Patty's loyalty to her husband results in a life restricted by prison rules and regulations. It is a sad story because the consequences of his terribly bad decision on one night result in more than one lost life.
