I expected this book to be focused on the Gospel of Jesus and how it showed up in the Matrix films (as the title indicates). Unfortunately this book only showed a shallow interest in Biblical elements and spent most of its time praising the brilliance of the Matrix creators rather than praising our Creator and Savior Jesus. The gospel they do spend time talking about is the Gnostic gospel, which was rejected by mainstream Christianity. I was very surprised that a pastor would not take the opportunity to share the Gospel message and connect the great significance of Jesus being our Savior just as Neo was the savior of captives in the Matrix. The authors seemed very non committal when it came to promoting the name of Jesus as the only true Savior. It seemed like they wanted to keep all their doors open and offend fewer people to sell more books. Simply put this book is focused on the artistic brilliance of the Matrix and not how we can gain insight on Jesus through the movie.
