Great novel about a southern lawyer who takes a case against his better judgement, and it changes his life. While the content and style are a bit like John Grisham's novels, I found this even more riveting. Human rights abuses in China, the greed-driven corporate executives, and the small-town hardscrabble South were all well portrayed. A few "coincidences" were a bit far fetched, but in light of the entire work, can be forgiven. A very good read!
An attorney Marcus resigns from his prestigious corporate law firm to retreat to the small town of Rocky Mount NC. and rebuild his life after a devastating personal tragedy. He has no idea that the biggest most emotionally difficult case of his entire career is about to fall into his backyard.
Excellent read! This is the first book I've read from Mr. Bunn and really delves into the court system, the government system and foreign governments. I did not want to put it down because I wanted to know the final result...

I am in the process of reading this book. It was a slow start but it is really picking up now.
This is about Marcus Greenwood who is a lost lawyer who goes back home after a nasty divorce. He is approached by a family to help them sue a big sporting goods company because their daughter has disappeared while investigating the company.
