Great Military Disaster is an interesting read. While the battles were not covered in great detail, the longest entries being only 10 pages long, the text was enhanced by the discussion of events before and after the battles that placed them in better perspective as to their effect on history.

I felt that the illustrations (paintings and photographs) greatly added to the text, as you could see images of the leaders as well as the common soldiers and seamen.

I did disagree with some comments about the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot, as the author credited that battle with a disastrous result that actually occurred at the Battle of Midway, which was not covered in this book. I learned through my reading that most British historians do not really study or understand what happened during the U.S. naval war in the Pacific during World War II.

I was also amused with the duplication of a photograph of some Israeli tanks in the section on the Battle of Sinai. The second photograph was labeled "more Israeli AMX-13s" when it was actually taken at the same time as the first photograph, but from a slightly different perspective. You can even see the same civilian bus behind the tanks.
