Sometimes I find the produce section of the market to be a bit intimidating. What is freshest? In season? Most nutritious? This book has taught me when to buy fruits and veggies, what to look for in the most ripe produce, and even some about the language used in selling them-- such as "jumbo" cantaloupe refers to the crate, not the fruit size! Each section details folklore, harvesting information, nutrition, and uses for each of 73 fruits and vegetables.
