The writing was fine and the characters likable, but I found the kidnapped by a cult plot line to be pretty creepy. Even though Julia has been out of the cult for 2 years she still occasionally feels psychologically controlled by their leader. His locking her up in small, dark spaces is mentioned repeatedly and she also witnessed a murder. The book was darker than I expected for my romance escape reading.
