  Gunpowder Lullaby

Devil on my street tonight
Whistling his favorite tune
Long fingers grip the trigger tight
Feel his damned touch, quelling doubt

Ruby lips and glassy eyes glimpsed
Through shadow-kissed window panes
Insubstantial, hopeful lies
Dream until my truth begins

Siren song,
Paint the blue man red
Still his stirring, trembling lips
Seep final words through sidewalk cracks

Powder black and asphalt red
Breathe out your final verse
(Sing until I can smile again)
