Sloan Monroe's heart was broken when her fiancé was killed in a motorcycle accident. Two years have passed, and she is still having a hard time dealing with the tragedy. While out running errands, a dog jumps into Sloan's car. Since she can't find the owner, she takes the dog to the vet to see if it is chipped. She is given the owner's phone number and leaves a message. When she doesn't hear back, she leaves message after message. After weeks of no contact, the owner finally responds. Jason, a musician, has been touring Australia and just got the message. Sloan has decided she wants to keep the dog, so she tells him that he must prove that he loves Tucker. This starts a string of conversations that leads to friendship and more.
A lot of people enjoyed this contemporary romance, but it was just OK for me. The first two hours or so was banter between the hero and the heroine. When they finally met, the story got a little more interesting. I liked both Jason and Sloan, and I loved Tucker who kept bringing them together. The big sticking point with the romance was the fact that Jason was a big star and would be on the road about eleven months out of the year. I didn't like that Sloan would decide that they have to break up when he goes on the road, then in the next scene she has changed her mind. She changed her mind about their relationship several times during the story. I was never sure which decision she was going to stick with.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Zachary Webber and Erin Mallon. Both did a decent job with the characters in this story. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
