'T'HE HARVARD MONTHLY is published on the first Saturday of each month, from October to July, inclusive, by students of Harvard University. The Monthly is intended, first of all, to serve as a medium for the publication of the best literary work that is produced by the students of the University; it is intended further to furnish alike for the students and the alumni a field for the discussion of all questions relating to the policy and the condition of the University, thus affording a means of communication between the undergraduates and alumni. Each number of the Monthly will contain, accordingly, an article from some prominent alumnus, contributions in prose and verse from the students of the University, book notices and editorials on topics of general interest. In the accomplishment of these aims, the Monthly invites the cooperation both of the students and the alumni. The Monthly is for sale (price 25 cents) in Cambridge at Sever's, Amee's, and Thurston's; in Boston, at Damrell, Upham« less
