Oh! This chronicles the first two eps of the series and sets the tone for the books that follow! Oh, I loved this book b/c it shows you more what the characters are feeling...the awkwardness of going to a new school and finding friends and I'd recommend this to anyone! Even if you're not a fan you can get into the book. It's short, but not too short. If you wanted to you could read it in a day...it's a page-turner even if you've never watched a single episode...or even if you've watched EVERR episode! It takes you to the beginning, where it all started...5 by 5!

A novelization of the first couple episodes of the Buffy TV series. Quick, easy read and fairly accurately novelized from what I remember. Enjoyable.

I recently decided to start reading all of the BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER titles, and this was a great start to the series.

I really enjoyed being introduced to Buffy, Giles, Xander, and Willow, and I'm sure there will be much more to learn about these characters. I hate Cordelia already, and know that I'm going to love Angel, but I'm still really excited to keep reading.

A great start!

Based on the pilot episode of the WB (later UPN) TV series.

New school. Same assignment.
Something's wrong in Sunnydale, California...something more than the usual bad hair day.
As long as there have been vampires, there has been the Slayer. One girl in all the world to find them where they gather and stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their numbers.
In this generation, she is Buffy Summers, 16 years old and a new student at Sunnydale High. Her experiences at her last school persuaded Buffy to try to resume the life of a normal teenager. But it is no coincidence that Buffy has come to this town at this time. The area is a center of mystical energy, and all the signs point to an iminent, crucial upheaval. Once in a century comes The Harvest: a night when the Master Vampire can draw enough power to break free and open the portal between his world and ours...unleashing havoc.
With the help of new friends and a new Watcher, Buffy's back in business....
