Hash Brown Casserole

Dish: Casseroles
Dish Type: Other
Cooking Method: Baked
Difficulty: 1 / 10
Servings: 8 to 12
Prep Time:
Cook Time: 1 to 1.5 hr.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup - Onion, diced
  • 1/4 pound - butter, thinly sliced (1 stick)
  • 8 ounce - container sour cream or plain yogurt
  • 8 ounce - package of sharp cheese
  • 1 can - Cream of Chicken soup
  • 2 pound - bag of frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
  • 1 cup - corn flakes
Directions

Stir together well the diced onion, sour cream, grated cheese, thinly sliced butter, and cream of chicken soup.  Add hash browns and mix well.

Spread mixture evenly in a 9 x 12 casserole dish and top with crushed corn flakes (can substitute potato chips).

Bake at 350 degrees F for one to one-and-a-half hours.

8 to 12 servings

You can use shredded hash browns or the cut potatoes like frozen potatoes O'Brien, but I think the shredded works best.  THis is a standard at any family gathering we have!

I love this , I put crushed ritz for the top on mine. Also I used the hash browns that have the peppers in them.
