The original "For Dummies" books seemed to be more "original"; this one relies heavily on the Frommers guides to the islands. However, the layout is less intimidating and more readable than a densely-packed guidebook and makes a good starting point to researching a trip.

I just returned from a honeymoon on Kauai and the Big Island. This book was very helpful! We used it as our main resource for exploring the islands. I recommend it.
