Comic strips are commonly inhabited by anthropomorphic animals â far too many to attempt to name in this paragraph! Nick Seluk decided to go in a slightly different direction with HIS comic strip ⦠anthropomorphic body parts! The title characters, âHeartâ and âBrainâ are literally just that â a heart and a brain. Heart represents the emotional side of humanity, while Brain takes on the role and responsibility of logic. Other characters â other body parts, that is â make occasional appearances, as does the Awkward Yeti who âownsâ all of these components.
The cartoons in this book (and in the 2018 Heart and Brain Calendar which I also received) are rarely laugh out loud funny. However, the cartoons are also rarely of the âwhat the h-ll was THAT?â variety, either. Sometimes, they made me smile. Sometimes they made me think. And occasionally, one would come up that made me do both.
Short read, Not perfect, but a nice diversion of a little time that I didn't feel guilty about losing in this book.
RATING: 4 Stars
DISCLOSURE: I received this book in a random draw from the publisher. The HOPE was that those picked might post a review. The PRAYER, I'm sure, was that those selected would promptly post a complimentary review. A 4-star isn't bad, I suppose, but a 9 month lag is hard to call âpromptâ.
