I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It consists of a general introduction and then several pages of text for each vegetable, plus several pages of color plates. The author has personal experience with each of these vegetables, and so the advice is indispensable. While I am personally not as interested in saving seeds as the author; as a vegetarian, I am always in search of interesting (and reliable) varieties of vegetables with honest (as opposed to seed catalog glorified) appraisals of each kind's productivity, flavor, and ease of culture. I also enjoyed discovering which non-fruiting parts of several vegetables plant are also edible. There were even a few vegetables I was unfamiliar with that I'm now eager to try: Goober peas (NOT peanuts!) and Chinese yams (a perennial in my zone!). A wonderful treasure to savor over the cold winter months.
