When I was a kid--this would have been in the 1980s--I had a series of books that were focused around girls in different historical eras. These books were the size of regular paperbacks and had the name of the girl as the title. Everyone keeps telling me that it's the American Girl series, but I don't think they are. Does anyone recognize these books?

LOL I love Avatar! It's the best toon out there. Umm, I think one was either WW2 or the suffragette period. I think one may have been a slave during the Civil War period. It's so frustrating because I can almost see them in my mind but I can't remember any of their names.

Shari,

it's probably the Sunfire Series.  All historical, all titled with a girl's name, starting with Amanda (my all time favorite!) and there were, I think, 26 of them.   Could this what you're thinking of?

Here is a picture of the cover of  Elizabeth http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j119/Mistry_2006/n176082.jpg

It's small, but if it's it what you're looking for, www.FantasticFiction.com  (click on series)  has them all listed in order, and you can check Amazon for the cover pics.

You are very welcome!   I had given mine away, and really regretted it.  So I've bought a few over the years, and only kept the ones I really liked.  They are popular here on PBS, too.  Always on a wishlist, but they do come around.  I pick them up when I see them to post!    Hope they are in the attic :)

Okay gals, my mom is going to look in her attic for my books. If I didn't live halfway across the country from her, I'd be there helping--anyway I hope she finds them in good condition!  But if not, I did see some of them on Ebay!! :)

Ebay is a great place to find them!  I got a lot of 16 of them for less than $30.  I hope she finds them in good shape!
