I was posting books to my bookshelf and I dont know what I did but the book posted 5 times to my bookshelf. I do not have 5 copies. It would be no problem except that the book is on several wishlists so all 5 copies are being "reserved" and I can not delete the other 4 copies until the people that have them on their wishlist reply. I know I am going to upset some people but I am not sure what I am suppose to do. Do you think people will be understanding or are they going to be very upset and file a complaint against me? I am very upset that this happened and I feel horrible.

Send and email to R&R explaining what happened. That way you cover yourself when you cancel on the WL books. I think everyone will be understanding. Just hope I'm not one of the other 4. LOL

Wow, that's strange.  I would just let the first one to respond have it and then send the other 4 a PM.  It's clearly not your fault and no one should be upset with you about it.

This happened to me once, but luckily it was only to 2 different members and not 5.  When I PM'd R&R about it, they said to just cancel the 2nd request and explain what happened.  So, that's what I did.   I'm sure it won't be held against you. It's not your fault.

There is another topic in here right now about this same issue, so it looks like a system glitch.  However, the other person's books are all showing that they are being held for the same person.  Have you clicked the PM button to see if yours is going to 5 different people or possibly to the same person?

Here's the info from the Help Center item "I got two requests for the same book!"

<snipped the irrelevant part at the top of the item>

  • Two copies of the book were posted simultaneously when you posted the book.

    • This can be caused by a server hiccup OR by your clicking "Post book" or "Refresh" while the book-posting was in process.

  • The requestor submitted two simultaneous requests

    • This usually happens when the requestor clicks again to request the book when the Request button reads "processing..."

It does not matter if the requestor submitted the request twice, or the book was posted to your bookshelf twice; the next step is the same, to correct the duplicate requests in your account, as follows:

If this happens:

  • You can simply accept one request, and decline the other by clicking
    • When you decline, the extra book will be removed from your bookshelf.
    • Be sure you accept the request for the book that was listed correctly, if you listed it twice.
  • If the book is on a WIsh List and involved in a pending offer:
    • Wait for the book to be requested.
    • Accept the first request
    • Decline any extra requests by clicking
    • Doing this will remove the extra copies from your account.
    • You will have a chance to explain what happened to the requestor when you decline a request.
