Maybe not a corner of France, literally; it's about 60 miles due east of Bordeaux.

A great book for anyone looking for a get away to a quieter simpler place. I loved this book's descriptions of French cuisine and French village life. The sections on the raising and making of foie gras can be a little hard to read but in general I enjoyed this book and found myself longing to move to France and live the quiet farm life.

A great read. You don't have to be a chef to enjoy this book... It is a well-written story/adventure of one American couple's year spent in southwest France. The author writes of his watching chefs producing meals; the 'foi de gras' production from goose farms, truffle hunting... both ingredients used in French cooking. A very enjoyable read!
