I chose this for this month's "Vampire" theme in my online book club, The Reading Cove, and I'm sorry to say I couldn't finish it.

Aside from the fact that it was a not-so-subtle Twilight Saga knock-off, the narrative was rather sophomoric and Harlequin-like. I gave it close to 50 pages, and by then I knew it definitely wasn't for me, so I jumped to the end and found more of the same. Very little is actually fresh or original here. And for a book written for adults, it had much more of a young adult tone and narrative.

DNF. Seasoned readers might want to skip this one.

I have to, strongly, disagree with the other review I've read on PBS. This book, this series, is one of the most brilliant vampire novels I've ever read and is nothing like Twilight. This is not smutty, or insta-love. These characters suffer, separately at times, and become stronger for it!

I believe this is the author's first? or second? book. This may be the reason her writing seems a mite immature to some... but I assure you, I've read thousands of books in my life and found this series addictive and refreshing. The more books you read of hers, the more they entangle your attention. The elemental part of the books are magical! The romantic love was deeply portrayed... as was the love, and hatred, between all of the characters. If you enjoy paranormal romance, or just the paranormal itself... try these books!
