It's always a risk to read early books by authors I enjoy. While this effort was not the worst that I've read, it does not compare to Lisa Jackson's more recent novels. There are two novellas (Gypsy Wind and Devil's Gambit) contained within this book- both are related to horse racing with a minor mystery and a sickly sweet romance.

Two stories about horse-racing in this book. The first is "GYPSY WIND," and is about a mystery that takes several years to unfold. (It's kinda predictable in the way that it plays out.) The second is "DEVIL'S GAMBLE" which is also about solving an old mystery and a current one, too. However, the characters in the second story seemed more true to life and I enjoyed the story much more then first.
